Walsall Night Panorama – Take 1….

Click to view in FlickrI’m still waiting for ideal conditions to capture a night-time version of my Walsall Panorama. To capture at the highest possible quality, and with maximum depth of field, requires exposure times of anything up to 5 minutes per frame, and at least 6 frames are needed to create a decent sized stitch. This calls for really calm conditions, as the slightest gust of wind can vibrate the camera and tripod just enough to render a shot too blurred to be used. Any trees in shot will also be rendered blurred as they blow about in the breeze. I was going to give it a go tonight, but upon stepping out onto the balcony I realised the breeze was a little too stiff for my liking. While I was out there I fired off a few test shots anyway, at lower resolution settings than I’d use to capture an A1 image. This is the result – its by no means perfect, but as a first attempt I’m rather pleased with it . . . .

A full size version of the image (which is very large) can be seen HERE……
